Bohermeen Celtic - 3 Lusk FC - 1

Hosts Bohermeen Celtic welcomed Lusk FC in the 1st round of the SFAI Cup at Derek Brady Park. On a beautiful Sunday morning conditions could not have been better for this cup meeting. The attitude from the Home side was to press hard and start fast and that they did with a goal coming just after tip off in the 45th second with a goal from Alvin Barry. A quick reaction and tidy finishing from Barry put the home side in the driving position and the home side couldn't have asked for a better start. With no intentions of backing down Bohermeen wanted more and pressed hard for a second. A corner awarded in the 5th minute was whipped in near post by Evan Moyles, where Dara Loughran drilled a header into the top left corner. The perfect set peice, 5minutes in 2-0 Bohermeen. The visitors clearly stunned had to work hard to try put a stop to the constant attack from the Bohermeen side. A battle at the half way mark saw striker Alvin Barry fight hard to win the ball and make a clean pass to Nathan Casserlly who threaded a beautiful ball to the on running Hayden Fitzsimons who calmly slotted the ball bottom right just out of reach of the visiting goalie making it 3-0 after 12minutes.

Lusk were in no way giving up and created some chances of their own but the Bohermeen back line of Aaron McKenna, Cian Loughran and Eoin Fitzsimons were superb and dampened any threats. 20 minutes in and Lusk made changes bringing on some strong substitutes. The addition proved fruitful when in the 21st minute a nice ball played over the top of the Bohermeen defence was picked up and confidently finished in the back of the host net, nothing Bohermeen keeper Jack Fitzgerald could do to prevent the powerful strike. Half time 3-1.
Lusk started stronger in the second half and had some chances of their own but the home side were very confident and calm on the ball and they had no intentions of letting the lead slip. Bohermeen had a few chances on the right wing with a run from right back Aaron McKenna having a go for himself. Hayden Fitzsimons was powerful on the right causing problems for the Lusk defence.

The Bohermeen midfield of Martin Keane, Evan Moyles, Sean Keogan and Captain Nathan Casserlly were excellent throughout. The addition of Kian Fitzsimons up front and Sam Wall, Alejo Rogers and Aaron Farnan in mid helped keep the pressure on the visitors. 5 minutes left on the clock and what was an excellent well timed tackle just inside the Bohermeen box was deemed a penalty for the Dublin side by the referee. The chance to bring the visitors back into the game wasn't to be with the ball going over the Bohermeen goals. What can only be described as a top quality team performance by the Bohermeen side and a well deserved win.

We wish Lusk FC the best of luck in the rest of their season.
